{"id":7113,"date":"2012-12-01T20:13:00","date_gmt":"2012-12-01T20:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theteacherstudio.com\/2012\/12\/so-excited.html"},"modified":"2018-12-06T17:14:19","modified_gmt":"2018-12-06T17:14:19","slug":"so-excited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theteacherstudio.com\/so-excited\/","title":{"rendered":"Math Memory Games for Upper Elementary Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\nI finally finished! &nbsp;My new game series &#8220;Trilogy&#8221; is finally a reality! &nbsp;I have been simmering on this one for quite a while, and I proud to say that the first edition is complete! &nbsp;I would LOVE feedback on it, so if you have time, pop over to my store and check it out. &nbsp;The idea came to me out of a need&#8230;a need for intermediate kids to have fun ways to independently practice many of the concepts we teach&#8211;but not in the &#8220;cute&#8221;, primary way that so many games and activities are designed. &nbsp;I hope this &#8220;big kid&#8221; memory game series will be just such a tool for grades 3-6 teachers like me! &nbsp;Let me know what you think&#8211;and watch for more editions coming soon&#8230;I have others in the works!<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<\/p>\n<h3>\nMath games for &#8220;Big Kids&#8221;!<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\nMuch like a typical memory game, students lay out an array of cards and look for matches. &nbsp;The big difference is that THESE games need THREE matches, not just two! &nbsp;It adds a level of challenge to the game&#8211;and increases the fun and engagement. Not only that, but students REALLY get talking about the math&#8230;whether it be to &#8220;discuss&#8221; whether a trilogy is really made, or to point out mistakes&#8211;or just to moan when TWO cards match but the third does not!<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/theteacherstudio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/trilogy2Bpost.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Playing math games is great--but when math games can lead to improved math talk and collaboration--even better!
